Looking at a Cat 1985 D6D with tilt for $55,000 great shape with a root plow - ripper - rake & gruber or a 2002 JD 650H Lt cab & air 1200 hours with a ripper & rake & gruber for $ 80,000 dollars with 1 year warranty?? I just like using a 6 way blade shaping the land thats what I like to do on the ranch 125 akers few mesquite trees & a hill to move & fill 10 ACKERS WITH FILL DIRT .

i have operated both and honestly if you got the extra $$$ id go with the 650h they are very nice crawler to operate, easier to move,i would think fuel cumsumption should be alot less as wewll, warranty!!! honestly in a days work you probly can move as much with the 650 plus not be wipped at the end of the day

I have never operated a 650H, but i would have a real hard time beliving it would move as much dirt in a day as a D6D would. The D6 is a bigger machine- 140hp vs 90, 34,000lbs vs 18,000, and the strait blade has much bigger capacity, something like 4 yards vs maybee 2 for the 6 way blade on a 650. I would imagine the deere is faster than the D6D, but I doubt it would be twice as fast. If you are doing a lot of lighter pushing and finish work, go with the deere, but if you have a lot of dirt to move the D6 is the way to go.
