Hello everyone,
I got my 440ICD track loader home last night.
Needs some work but it should work for me.
Its been sitting for a long time and the backhoe on the back is a john Deere , at least it has the stickers.
The two long cylinders are bad, the chrome is pitted out.
I have been reading here that machine shops have this cylinder material in long lengths and are pre chromed? is this true?
I'm not a hydraulic man so I don't know what this inside of one of these cylinders look like YET....
But I do have some machinery, a small but adequate machine shop, 1 small cnc lathe, a few manual lathes a couple mills.
I was thinking that I could order these chromed tubes or solid? (from where? and how much) ball park figure??, Iam talking about the rod that extends in and out, and I could do my own machining.
What exactly do they do to these?? It can't be that difficult ????? or is it?
How much are replacement cylinders going for??
Any advice is greatly appreciated .
Thanks
Scott
