I was clearing a field the other day, and I shut down for a few minutes. When I cranked back up the dozer would NOT move. It acts like it is in neutral. Can anyone tell me where the hydraulic filter is on this tractor?? It's a '77 model. Also I need a shop manual. Found one, it was $300. That sounded pretty dern expensive to me.

I bought an operators manual for about $20.00 and it gives you a lot of info. When I need a shop manual, I go to the Case dealer and he gives me copies out of his manual, whatever I need. I do buy some parts there but not all. The parts man has been very helpful.

Thanks Ric. Can you tell me how to pull the hydraulic filter? This is the first crawler I've ever owned. I can take care of the engine, but the transmission, running gear etc. is a lot different from a farm tractor.

Thanks again Ric, I talked to a guy today who used to run several 450's in his dirt business. He said he thought he had an old operators manual in his storage building, and he'd let me have it. Again thanks for the help.

There is a suction line and a pressure line. the suction line is on the right hand side in the engine compartment. Take the 4 bolts out and off it comes. When I cleaned mine, it was so dirty I do not know how it ran. The pressure filter is under the right side compartment where the controls are. Just take the plate off and the filter case has a big nut on the end. I found this very dirty also. Make sure you get an operators manual asap, best money you will spend.

Good Luck

sounds to me like you parked it facing slightly up hill and it lost its prime on the pump.

It's parked on flat ground, but it WAS low on oil. How do you re-prime the pump??
