went to an auction last saturday that was an estate sale- the guy had been collecting construction equipment/iron for 60+ years i was told. On the sale were 2 old draglines, 1 very old shovel; 3 or 4 cement trucks and 6 or 7 dump trucks all from the 50's 60's vintage, 7 or 8 cars from the 40's and 50's, a D-7 cable, a D-6 (i think) with hydraulics but all tore apart, as well as several D4's and D2's scattered about. All this plus they said around 600 tons of scrap iron laying in a 5 acre timber with paths cut through to see the machinery. There was only about 30 people at the auction and the auctioneers divided it up into grids and you bought everything laying in it. Some things were sold seperately like a Hough payloader for $1200 and the old shovel brought around $1000. Everything else sold for iron to whoever bought the grid which sold for around $900 each.

Quite sad to see such a neat collection sold for scrap iron.
