I thought some one was saying that a chevy truck starter, would work for my 440icd. maybe change the nose cone and gear or somthing.
My starter has about had it.
Its a Delco.
Does anybody remember that posting? I can't find it.
thanks
scott

Delco starters are all modular and interchangeable. You can't get too much cranking power and speed to cold weather start a Detroit two stroke. Don't go anything less than high torque winding and a HD bendix drive in the factory starter with a 1000+ CCA battery and 00 welding cables with sagged ends.

No they are not anywhere near the same, if they are thats a new one on me, I may have one that needs rebuilt. I use to live in Washington state and always had Sound Starter in Tacoma rebuild mine. I now live in Pa, don't know where you're from in Wa. Joe
