I have an old Michigan Payloader with a waukesha 6 cylinder overhead valve engine that is blown. I was wondering if anyone knows of anything else that might have the same mounting pattern so it would be a bolt in swap. I've been told that some of the old international truck engines are the same but I can't confirm this. I was wondering if maybe a 6 cyl chevy or gmc truck engine might fit. All information would be appreciated.

I had a Michigan 55A the had a Chevy 6 installed; I believe it was a 250 or 292. Also saw one once that had a JD engine out of a combine.

Many times the engines used an SAE flywheel housing. Sorry, I cannot remember the dimensions and bolt patterns but if it is SAE, the sizes and patterns were the same if you were in the same size class. i.e. SAE flywheel #2.
Try this address to see if you can match up dimensionally. Link

How would I determine which size flywheel I have when the machine doesn't have a clutch. Do I go by the reverser size? Thanks for the help!

I've been told that some of the chev/gmc engines will work in place of some of the. I had an old hough payloader with a chev 250 in it worked ok. You need to look close at the differant engines you may find that they are very close. Also if you have been told an IH engine will fit most of the trannys used in IH will fit up to a chev engine/bellhouseing

Thanks for the info.I guess I'll have to check it out to see what I have. I have a nice GMC six cylinder engine that runs sweet. It would be nice if that engine would bolt in.
