Anyone got stories?

Growing up, a pals dad was a SeaBee supporting the Marines take islands in the WW2 Pacific battles. He operated a dozer, and used the machine to shield Marines advancing on the enemy. Enemy bullets would be dinging on the blade, and the blade was also used to fill dirt into trenches filled with enemy soldiers. Scary stuff!

Over on defendamerica.mil I've seen photos of Cat D8 machines working the waterfront areas of Iraq and Kuwait, with the tracks and UC in the salt water. And what might be those machines, after being used up, are sometimes on govliquidation.com.

The link listed below shows a Cat D7 detonating a landmine in Afghanistan.

There are some brave men working these machines.

later!
Matt

Those CATs are tough! Thanks for the website link, another source of news. Iron men on steel machines. Our son just back from Iraq, going back again soon, says he's ready.
