Case 350 - 2 questions

I have had my '72 Case 350 Track loader for about a year now. I have worked it pretty good this spring and have noticed a few things that may be problems developing. The first is after using the machine for a while and it starts to get hot (about 200), the converter starts to not pull as hard. As I drive into a pile of dirt, the converter will lock up. It feels like something just stops or locks up in the tranny/converter. I have not changed the transmission pressure filter yet, but I don't know if that will help. Am I just running it too hot? Should I concentrate on that or look into the converter problem?
Also, I used to be able to drop the bucket and drag backwards to level things out. Now when I drop the bucket and backup, there is no pressure and the bucket just rolls up. If I manually put pressure on the bucket, it works, but it used to not be that way. Any thoughts?
What things should I look at to improve the lifting capabilities/ hydraulics of the machine.

Thanks,
Jon

Jon, I believe you should change the fluids&filters at least once a year no matter how little hours you put on it. Condensation is the biggest factor and killer. It may not matter at this point but it would be a start. Your machine has a gear tranny so your problem is in your converter. Also there is a filter in your hydraulic system that maybe affecting that problem. Start with the filters and fluids and see. Also if machine sits out change tranny oil and adjust brake bands while apart. Remember only use GL-1 in the diff/tranny, and make sure you use the correct oil in the converter. If you need help and/or parts or if the converter turns out to be too far gone, email me. I know someone that can help you and also has the parts.
