I am going to look at a Case 450. I haven't seen it yet, but the owner says he thinks it is a 450A, between 1978 and 1980. Under carriage is supposed to be about 80% and it has a winch.

Would this have the 207ci engine?

He is asking $12000 for it. Would this be a fair price if it is fairly tight and the under carriage is as good as he says?

Where can I find more info on this particular dozer?

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Some call the A after they changed the undercarrige on the 450 at serial number 3050800 The 207 started at the B as marlowe said. Remember that winch is worth about $4000. Around here they are very hard to find and highly sought after, as Case is the crawler of choice for the logger and people working on side hills.
The B started with serial number 3067351 in 1978 so it could be a B with a 207, but it is my experience that guys don't know what year their machines are. Some don't even know what brand... they call them all Cat's..lol

I have a late 450 NOT a B, and it has the 207 diesel in it. So, there ARE some straight 450's with the 207 engine. Sorry, i can't come up with the serial number right now..

as to the engine size it can be either a 188 or 207 depends on the year

I've seen others for less, but 12 includes the winch which I need.

I have also been checking out a Massey Ferguson 200 that a fellow has. It is in great shape but the lack of parts scares me.

188 or 207, what year did they change? How can you tell by looking?

Thanks,

Mike
