I know I'm a little out of place with a skidloader, but I'm lost. It's an '89 743 Bobcat with a Kubota (diesel) engine. I changed the seals in both of the hydrostat motors, because I was getting hydrolic fluid in the crankcase(it would then leak). When I drove it,it would lose power driving up a hill. If I let off going forward it would build up rpm's again, and I could continue up the hill(without a load).I turned it off, and the radiator was overheating. I put a thermostat in, and seems to be not overheating now(I did not drive it much though). The heads are not cracked. The engine sounds, and runs fine. The leak from my chaincase is much smaller, but still exists. The chaincase is not full though. I'm thinking there is a problem with the hydrostatic motor(s). Actually, I'm quite baffled. If someone could help me, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

I'm a little confused here, you replaced the seals in the hydrostat motors because you were getting hydraulic oil in the crankcase? First, if it was the motors, you'll need to do more than just replace the shaft seals. The shaft seals are only designed to keep the case(return)oil in the motors for lubricating the outer shaft bearings. The motors will need to be rebuilt inorder to stop the leak. If it was the pumps, then they will need a rebuild also for the same reason as the motors. As far as the Kubota goes, pressurize the cooling system and check for leaks. As far as the lack of power, first I would change the fuel filter and check the air filter. If it still doesn't run right, you may need to take it in and have the injection pump looked at. It sounds like the govenor is about ready to break, especially if the high rpm has dropped from what it was and it has trouble handling a load. Good luck.
