How do you adjust the track in an old cat 6d, with a 3 cyl engine. Is it by grease or by bolts, and where would the grease zerk be if it adjusted that way?

If it is a D6D it is adjusted by grease. There should be a tin cover over the recoil spring with a square access door held on by a 1/2 bolt behind the front roller stand. Open the door, clean the area out and on the boss just ahead of the recoil spring there should be a recessed grease fitting. May take some digging to find it,it is usually directly at the top. Next to it is a bolt head (7/8?)that when unscrewed releases the grease pressure.
