Is anyone familiar with the anti stall device on a Case 1550 dozer? I recently purchased the unit through Iron Planet.com and although their supposedly professional inspectors indicated that the power train functions normally, it will not move with the anti-stall set in the normal operating position. Will it harm the transmission or engine to operate machine with the anti-stall disengaged? What is the likely cause of the malfunction?

Jim , I have a friend that sells dozer parts and in his office is a picture of a 1550 at work. It is about 18x36 big...what a neat machine. He said there weren't that many of them and that pic was from a Case Dealer show room Good Luck with it.

With the anti-stall disengaged it bypasses some of the controls for the hydrostatic drives for both sides. In normal operating position it's about impossible to stall the engine, with it the other way you have to run hydro by hand to keep engine speed up.There is alot of small orifices and valves that control the transmission on this tractor and it has been to long to recall what can cause this.It can get complicated, you need the service manual before you even start on this thing. They work real nice when they work like they are supposed to.

Thanks for the info. So it sounds like there is not a concern with damaging anything by working the machine with the anti-stall dis-engaged? The operator's manual doesn't address this, it just says to engage the anti-stall as soon as the machine is warmed up. I have purchased a service manual so hopefully I can get it working.

The biggest problem is lugging engine down to far and not keeping pressure and flow up for cooling and lubrication.
