Would like to know what you think the fair market value of a totally restored JD MC might be or where I can find out

If You are buying the MC to use, better check to see if the tracks are "Completely Restored" also. Track work, replacing sprockets and idlers can easily get to that$4500 figure mentioned, even on a MC. If it is strictly a show tractor that wouldn't be as big a consideration.

Is it just the tractor, or does it ahve a blade? I would say a realistic price would be in the 4500 dollar range, around here. If you're gonna use it for work, that's about what it's worth. What newer machine are you going to get to do anything for less than 15 grand? Just my opinion. What good are these machines doing all painted up sitting in a shed somewhere? Get em out and work the paint off those tracks. Just another opinion.

For those of us who use old crawlers for work around the farm, it has been the case for some time that the FMV of the 2 cyl JD's is far in excess of what they are worth.

I saw one sell about a year ago, new everything, for $6500 or $6700. Sure was pretty but too rich for me.
