I'm going to need to replace some of the transmission bearings in my HD-5G. Does anyone have information as to who might have the best prices on bearings in general? So far, I know I need both bearings on the input shaft.
Also, the input shaft seal is shot. Any suggestions as to a source is appreciated.
Thanks.

All the bearings in a machine, of any kind, are normally available through your local bearing supply house. Even if they happen to have the equipment mfg's part number on them instead of an actual brng mfg's number they should still be able to cross the number and get whatever you want. If they can't do it by crossing a number then they should be able to go by type and dimensions. We work on everything from cranes to garden tractors and very rarely buy "OEM" bearings unless we have to for one reason or another. Ninety-nine percent of the time you can get the bearings cheaper not going through the dealer because they have to have their markup too. Once in a while you might save a few bucks through the dealer on something odd because they are able to buy in huge quantity and get a discount that, even with the markup, gets passed on...but don't hold your breath to see this..... .Like anything else it pays to shop around for the best price. As for a bearing supply house, the best I know of is Bearing Distributors in Charlotte, NC. That's who we deal with all the time. Both Stephanie and Summer are the best at finding all that oddball stuff we run into, and that says ALOT. Good luck...
