Well, I thought for sue someone would post on my ITS ALIVE post.

But this morning I traced the oil pump problem to an error in the install of the oil pump. No, I didn't install it, a friend did. Oh well lesson learned.
There is a left hand and a right hand mark on the oil pump,it was 180 degrees off.

So tonight I will reinstall and button her up, and a way we go.
No harm done. At least so far.
Its been kinda fun, bringing this thing back to life, and hearing it put put ....
Iam sure I will be making lots of little adjustments on the engine.
So next week I guess I will be moving on to the hydraulics and the drive train.
More fun hahahahaha
Thanks for the help. this web page and the hints from it make a big differance..
thanks
scott

Yep, only put...put... when at a minumum RPM.
Took her to 1/2 to full power after fixing oil pump. WOW....loud....
40 TO 50 PSI psi now.....
She screams..... .
New injectors will be here this week, along with new lower end bearings. this thing is realy cool...
Starts right up..runs great. Put it in gear and she moved forward, same with reverse. Bucket is on jack stands so can't move to much yet.
Gota get the pump hooked up and fluid in her. then we will try the loader.....
yeeeehahaaaaa.
thanks
scott

Detroit two stroke makes a "putt putt" sound? Someone didn't go and sneak a two cylinder gasser in there did they? They rumble, roar, howl and scream.

I just read this "its alive" post and when I read the "putt-putt" part I was thinking, when I start my 440 2-53 putt-putt has never crossed my mind (nor my neighbors on sunday morning) it's roar and scream. I then read your post and was glad to see that somebody else picked up on the putt-putt part. But I can say its always exciting when the old ones do come to life.
