Hi
Have got an Interational 3500 backhoe with hydrostatic transmision wich is giving me problems
I cannot find a manual anywhere for it.
I need to know where the the transmission filter is so i can replace it .There is a housing on the side of the transmission that looks like a filter housing but there is no filter in it.Is this right?
Does the hydraulic tank (checked via dipstick)drive the hydrostatic trans. as well?
The machine drives forward very slowly in low range (until it warms up then wont go at all) and will go backwards in low but sounds a bit rough from what i gather to be the tansmission.
Does this sound like lack of oil?
Have found a 1.1/2 inch pipe underneath with a rubber pipe that the hoseclip was slightly loose and the rubber slightly perished so am trying to locate new one.
Has anyone got any advice or ideas etc?
Thanks
Mike

That housing should contain a filter. The trans. uses its own oil,not from the hyd. tank. I would venture a guess that your trans is going to need some serious work, running unfiltered oil in a hydro is death on them due to the close clearances they run. You should get a manual and run some pressure checks with the filter installed, and the fluid topped off.Maybe a local Case or Komatsu(they took over the industrial line) dealer could copy the pressure test proceedure out of their manual to get you started.Trans is very similar to the trans in a Hydro 70 ag tractor.
