I am thinking about buying an older 977 loader. It has a pony motor to start. It runs well but has no power to one of the tracks. What are your opinions on a machine of this vintage. Can I still gt parts for it. Any replies will help.
Thanks in advance

They are a good around the farm loader,if you need something that size.Parts are still available from Cat new,and some reman. There may be a few left in salvage yards, but they may be picked over by now. Sounds like you either have a bad steering clutch, final drive,or maybe have lost the bevel gear shaft due to a bearing failure, any of which can get kinda spendy unless you can locate used parts.I would try to find one in a salvage yard for parts availability before committing on the purchase.
