Steering clutches, & final drives, brakes
1960 440icd

Ok, I have been slowly working my way to the steering clutches and brakes.
I am draining my final drives oil, but have not refilled them yet. I took the steering clutch covers off and peered inside. The linkage is rusty, the clutch pedal side (left) steering lever moves freely but does not seem to work when I move the tractor forward.
The brake pedal side steering lever (right) did not move freely, but it is slowly getting better after I have been lubing it with WD40. I can see what appears to be a clutch pack down in the left side, When I drained the final drives good-looking oil came out, about a quart and a ½ each side.

One of my questions is, does the clutch get oil from the final drives????? Or are they two separate sealed cavities? Since it appears that the clutches are directly above where I drained the oil from on the finals. Maybe, what you call Dry clutches? But the finals take 80 to 90-wait gear oil?

The filal drive gears are sealed off from the clutch and brake housing.Oil is NOT supposed to be in with brakes or clutches, they are "dry".
Where the main shaft comes from the ring gear in the rear end it also has a seal to keep tranny oil in and off of brakes/clutches.
