LOOKING FOR FLUID LEVEL PLUG ON FINAL DRIVE.
OPERATORS MANUAL SHOWS IT ON OUTSIDE FRONT AND BACK OF FINAL DRIVE HOUSING. THERE IS NOTHING THERE.FOUND ONE ON THE INSIDE ABOUT 8 INCHES ABOVE DRAIN PLUG BUT IT IS BLOCKED BY THE BELLY PAN. HOW DO YOU CHECK FINAL DRIVE FLUID LEVEL??

My 440 has the plugs above the belly pan.
I had to pull the thing,it was a real pain.
It was bowed and bent and it took about an hour 1/2 to get the back two bolts off.
Then, when I did get it off I couldnt see the fill hole.
After 30 minutes or so, I started scraping with a screw driver and found that the dirt was like concrete and was flush with the housing, I could tell the differance from the steel and the dirt and oil.

I've got a straight 350 crawler. I don't remember if I checked it before I replaced the belly pan, but it doesn't make sense* that you'd have to drop the pan just to check the level. The pan could have been modified or just bashed up. In any event as is usual with these machines it isn't easy under normal circumstances. (*For instance, in order to remove the starter you have to remove the dip stick tube.) You might just have to try harder to get to it
