I got the left final drive off yesterday.
After 3 days of removing bolts, that were frozen and rusted. what a pain.
The brake band and drum look good. throw out bearing is good, but the sleeve that goes into it has a slight crack on the inside. I think I did it when I pulled the final out.

the mechanism that pushes the bearing forward into the pressure plate does have something wrong with it. Does anyone know anything about this??
It pops when pulled back all the way, then snaps back a bit. (HELP PLEASE)

The clutches look like they are stuck but I guess I won't be able to tell until I can take them apart. Maybe tomorrow.? I see nothing obvious yet.
any help would be supper

Thanks
Scott

I don't think there is anything wrong with the release part, because it will pop! when it over travels, this release bearing mechanism operates on three balls that roll up a ramp to make it move fore and aft as it is twisted by the control lever,so as I said before when the balls roll out of place they will pop and then pop again when they go back into place. the sleeve on mine was broken loose as was the pilot tip of the the shaft that goes through the clutch,my axle stripped the splines in the bull gear is why I went in and found bad bearings which were assembled backwards, Hope this helps Mike H

I took it apart today, I see the three balls and the cone inserts in each side. There are three cone inserts in the tractor side, and three in the casting that rotates when lever is pulled. I see no ramp surface except for the cones. right????

I do notice that when I push on the casting against the balls and rotate it, at the point it pops it kind of cocks at a slight angle. But up until it pops, it is parallel with everything else.
Is this something to worry about?
thanks
Scott

Yes the cones are what I was talking about I forgot some details but I don't think the little pops is anything to worry about, but you need to adjust so it doesn't pop if possible.
