Is there a website that tells you what to look for in the undercarriage. I have figured out the sprockets and pads. But explain the pins and bushings and what to look for?

Thanks, JT

The pins and bushings are what connect the links together. The bushing is the large daimeter piece that the sprocket teeth go around, and the pin is the smaller diameter piece that goes on the inside of the bushing connecting the links together, and allowing them to pivot.
The two wear areas are the inside of the bushing where the pin and bushing contact. This area wears for the constant pivoting as the rails go round and round. As they weat, the "pitch" of the track increases, which in turn will contribute to sprocket wear as the pitch of the track increases, and it begins to ride up on the sprocket teeth.
The other is the outside of the bushing that wears from contact with the sprocket teeth.
Usually you will check the bushing for roundness or sometimes called egg-shaped.
Keep in mind that the outside shape of the bushing does not necessarily determine the condition of the track. I have rebushed tracks with quite round bushings, but internally, they were quite out of spec. Similarily, I have rebushed tracks that had a terrible egg shape to the bushing, that internally would still have been in spec, most likely due to incorrect track adjustment and/or bad sprockets.
