i need ya'lls help.dont know alot about large machines.some peaple can tell just at a glance what it is. i can't,yet.i'm thinkin its a d7b.pony moter start,and thats the problem.spark plugshavent been in the head foe a long time.the rest of the machine is in realy nice shape.as far as i know the pony moter doesnt run.muct to big of a machine to push start like a H farmall tractor.i'm a fair mechanic so wench'in isnt a problem as long as i have a manual.part i know are very,very high.don't want to buy a pig in a poke!whats u advice.

Jim a D7 is a 4cyl and a D8 is a 6cyl. You can pull it to start but you need a machine of equal size to do it. The tracks michr be frozen up a bit too if it has set for long.

thanks bob,makes sense.dont think its set that long was bougt at a auction not long ago.dont think i'm realy interested in it,seems almost to large for me or for the work i have to do.

If it's all intact, other than the starting engine, it might be worth paying some one with a large wheel loader to haul it around and try to get it started. If you have it running and it sounds okay you could turn it over for a better $$$ and get a D6 or smaller machine.

Jim if you can post on ACMOC.org the serial number the guys there will help you out. Some serial numbers are on the left side of the engine block towards the rear. Skip in CT.
