Did complete engine rebuild on this old T340 and it runs good but won't steer. Pulled cover off and Right sun disc is scored badly on inside(no lining left on that pad also). One place I called wants 78.00 per pad! Yikes!!! Disc is slightly under 1/4". Has anyone ever tried drilling out the rivets and making a new disc. Metal doesn't seem hard and it's bathed in oil. Or does anyone out there have one for sale? When I get this fixed I'll check the pivot turn brakes and see what they may need also. Thanks Keith

Keith; I turned mine in a lath to get a good surface on it. It's been a while back but seems like there is plenty of adj. in the system to allow for a thinner disc. I do not remember how thick it is new. As far as the pads, I paid $47 each about 7 years ago for mine. So that is about right I suppose. If the disc is smooth, it should last for a long time if kept in adjustment. There is an adjustment to the pivot brakes if they are not locking the tracks up when you pull the steer lever back on that side. Try to adjust the pivot brakes before you tear into it as it may just need adjustment.

From what you wrote, I assume that you know how to try to adjust the brakes before getting inside them. I just mention that because some people can't turn the adjuster and think there is no further adjustment possible, but they just haven't tried it with the lever pulled back. You just want a few inches free play in each lever after adjustment.
