Awhile back you fells gave me some advice concerning a front mounted leaking pump on my 1977 J.D. 410 Hoe.
Took it to a fella and parts and labor came to just over 300.00
Worked it a couple of hours and it blew a gasket--the prior leak was around the shaft.
I understand these things can happen and it is not a problem between me and the guy who fixed it.
Here is my question??? there are 2 large nuts opposite the shaft side of the pump on the bottom the one is where the stroke valve is and the other--the one leaking is where the filter is located.
I think I am correct the one where the stroke valve is where there is a lock nut and an adjuster with an allen wrench to adjust pressure.
Anyway these 2 large nuts are VERY close together and I was not able to get in there with a socket to remove the leaking part as the edges of the 2 nuts are very close together.
I removed the pump again---BUT was wondering if in the future I needed to replace the screen or replace a blown gasket on the nut can it be done without removing the pump from the tractor.
He set the pressure to where he figured it was before by location of the set screw but wasn't 100% sure if it was to high or low.
By looking at the nut where the screen is located it has been rounded off on the corners a little by using a cresent instead of a socket and must not have been installled tight enough.
Any help will be much appreciated as your past help has been.

It can be removed without taking the pump out. The little filter that's in there can usually be cleaned and reused. As far as the leak goes, the seal and o-ring kit that Deere sells for the pump has every o-ring and seal in the pump, i.e. they all should of been replaced.
