neighbor wants to sell his 350 diesel dozer. Has only 3100 orignal hrs. He bought it new in the late '60's. has the outside straight blade, good under carriage and not banged up at all. What is the average price for this machine? thanks for any help.

Bought a basket case up here in ME for $2,500. After a rebuilt engine $4k, uc $4k and some odds and ends have a pretty much new machine for around $12k. Prices are high in this region, so I think I'm O.K.. In general prices vary a lot depending upon region, so check out your area.

Tom,

Below is a similar question and my reply which I think some of the info may apply to you.

A late 60's JD Dozer is probrably a straight 350 because I think the B's started in 70. (again I think) Either way, they are both dry clutches which are not as sought after as the wet, nor is the outside mount blade, at least in my area. One of the advantages to the 350's are there size and with the outside mount it changes the small areas it can work in. It's hard for someone to put a value on something without seeing it. The only advice I can give is what I have seen them listed recently and that is as low as $6500 and up to about $11,00 or so. Rippers, winch and/or PTO is also worth something if equiped. An original owner, low hours and covered/kept inside is what some people look for. If ya don't have to sell it, keep it a bit high and see if there are any takers or interest. Hope this helps and good luck. Do you have any pictures and where are ya located? -Mark

In a few months, I'll be done with my landscaping project and will be looking to sell my JD450. When I bought it in October of last year, it had just had new clutches and brake put in the left side. The right clutch is o.k. but it could stand a new brake band. The motor is strong and I've been told by some contractor friends that the bottom has very low hours. The bolt heads for the track pads aren't even worn. It has a six way blade and ROPS. The grousers on the pads aren't even worn. The guy I bought it from had to move to Kentuckey with his family in a hurry for a new job, so I reaped the benefit from that... I was just wondering what a streight 450 with dry clutches goes for in relatively good condition.. P.S. I'm in ConnecticutThanks..Chip

Chip,On the west coast I have seen 450's going from as low as $8,000 to as high as $25,000 in the 12 months or so. The C and D's will bring a little more due to wet clutches and they are just a newer machine and "usually" have less hours. A friend just up the road from me picked up a 450C 6-way with a winch for $15,000 about 8 months ago. This dozer is pretty clean, runs great and is fairly tight all around. This tractor sat along side of a very busy Interstate in North CA for sometime.

Without seeing a tractor it's hard to give a value because peoples idea of a tractor in good shape or great shape can differ.... a lot. Look around in your area for other 450's for sale, if they are close go take a peek at them so you can get a feel for the market. If you don't want to spend any time just advertise it at what you hope to get out of it and see if you get any bites.

So to answer your question the best I can, a 33 year Deere 450B in my area I would think a price between $10,000 to $13,000 for a clean/tight/60% plus left on the U/C would be a fair price. Less if it's really well used, more if it's a low hour machine and taken care of. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the info. And your right, my idea of good condition and someone elses is two different things.
