Have low hour 500C that has more than its share of clutch troubles. Going to replace once more and want to put in Kevlar clutch facings. Supposed to last 5 times longer. Has anyone had any experience with solving 500C clutch problems or with Kevlar clutches. Any info appreciated.

I'm sure there were alignment problems to be wary of,plus issues of not allowing parts to fall into bullgear casing.I can supply a manual which will guide you correctly.Maybe the plates are worn to limits.

I have an older well used 500 as well and have been useing it hard for a couple years now. Once I figured out correct adjustment, I haven't had any slippage with clutches that I'm sure are old. What kind problems are you having?

The long story-When purchased clutches supposedly had been repaired by qualified mechanic. Soon after putting to work, one side quit working and I had adjusted, by original mechanic but that adjustment only held for a short time. Had dealer mechanic attempt to adjust according to book (I have both repair manual and Parts Manual) and he couldn't get one side to hold. Had clutches removed by original mechanic and they were rust pitted and shouldn't have been put back in the first time. Mechanic did so at instruction of fellow I bought from. In an attempt to fix right and cheap, dealer came up with "rebuilt" clutches, (their description of used) that were installed. Still could not get the right side to hold. Took to dealer and they couldn't make it hold either. Have adjusted according to repair manual spec's many times, and they will work for a short time and then the right side won't hold. Have done a lot of work with the machine turning with the one clutch. Could do a lot more if both clutches would hold and could steer both ways. I just want to fix it once more and have it work right!! It will cost me more than it's worth, but it isn't worth much the way it is now! Any help appreciated.
