Hello, I have a 6 ton mini excavator and am looking at either a CAT E110B or early CAT 311 excavator. Does any one have input on the difference between the two machines? Which would you choose and why? Both have just over 5000 hours and are in good condition. The mini takes a long time to move any volume of dirt, so I am looking at a larger machine.

Very few tech differences between them. Basically same machine. when they stopped making E110B, they started making 311. Its just a continuation with a number change.

I can't help you with the differences between the two, however I do own an E110B. It's been a very good machine so far. Starts every time, smooth operating, and quiet. A good overall machine. I think if I had it to do all over again I would buy an E120B though. The extra reach makes a big difference. Be sure it's a "B". The earlier 110's were pretty savage on the swing. Good luck.
