I have a JD 450D crawler with winch. I need to lift some pallets of rocks (approx. 2600 lbs.) and load on trailer. My question is this. There is a welded pad eye on the roof of the dozer. Has anyone ever set a beam on roof and secured to pad eye and extended it out over the back of dozer with pulley on end and used the winch to lift material in this manner? Has anyone ever seen this done and if so, any tips or cautions??? If not, any ideas on how to accomplish this. Dozer has 6 way blade. I can't figure anyway to use the front end to lift and keep level.

on the front, weld gin pole holders on the top of the blade. Angle-changing brace chains can be attached to the ROPS. Then weld pulley to top of ROPS & you can run your winchline over the top, in the pulley & to pulley in your gin (A-frame). You can fine-tune the lifting height by raising/lowering the blade. To use the back, just use an old wheeled logging arch that attaches to the hitch.
