I thought the crawlers were TD-6? It should start the same as the 1948 TD-6 I had several years ago. After checking the fluid levels, place transmission in neutral, clutch lever forward, turn on fuel and gas, pull throttle lever and spark chamber lever all the rearward to there stops, grab the hank crank, pull the choke on the carb, insert hand crank so that you can pull a 1/4 turn upward while making sure it will turn freely and release properly, and pull crank until engine starts. Once engine starts, push in choke, allow it run a few minutes but remember you will only have about 15 minutes or so on that small tank of gas, once engine is running smoothly, push spark chamber lever and throttle forward, and you should now be running on diesel. It should smoke for a few minutes and then it will go away if the engines in good shape. To shut off, just let idle a little and pull throttle all the way back. Rumor has it if you shut it down improperly by not letting it cool down or idle to long, the head will crack. I never had a problem but I was always cautious about it. Good luck.
