440icd loader backhoe

I have what apears to be a Cessna pump up front.
I need to replace it or rebuild it (how much does re-build cost)
Has anyone done this on there tractor?
Maybe another type will work with some different mounting bolts.
Been looking but there are a lot of them.
I need 1750 psi at 1800 rpm and 24gp
Mine has a 1.00 6 slpine.
thanks
scott

If you have the bigger one for the hoe, let me know.
The one I have mounts up front with a 1 inch 6 spline.
It runs both loader and backhoe.
Let me know what maodel number, manufacturer, and what the specs are, and how much you want for it.
Thanks

Also, did you check dealer for a kit or reman? What else it fits?Might have to check more than one,but sometimes dealer $$ are favorable.

We have a Deere 440IC that just has the dozer blade. When the origional pump on it went out we mounted a small pump in front driving directly off the crank. I forget how many GPM we had calculated the old pump put out but we got pretty close with the one we used. You need to stay pretty close to the origional GPM, in your case you've figured 24. If you need X-GPM at Y-pressure it's gonna take a certain amount of HP to obtain that pressure/flow combination. If you double the flow at the same pressure your gonna be putting one heck of a load on the engine, if it will even handle it, not to mention the rest of the system isn't gonna work right because it just wasn't designed to flow that much volume. You might try getting on Thomas Register's online site and doing a search for hydraulic pump manufacurers. This should get you names and contact numbers for the major pump makers. I'm sure one of them can help you find what you need. We work on so much old stuff I live in the bound/book set of Thomas Register we've got. Since the dealerships don't usually know much about the older stuff I've found I can get alot more results going directly to the maker of the part (which unlike today wasn't always the OEM for the machine) than to the OEM for the machine it came on. Too calling the different mfgs. works good because so many companies/product lines have been bought out and split up between different mfgs that there might be several different mfgs making what used to be one product line and are now marketing them under several different names. I've run into this several times and it took a little calling around each time but I always found what I was looking for.

yes I have been looking at these for an hour.
But there is a gazillian of them.
Very few seem to have the specs I want and none have the square bolt patern in the front, with no 1.0 6 spline.
what will happen if I go above 24gpm to 40 gpm but stay around the rest of the spec.

JD 440 hydraulic pump in reply to Bob, 08-03-2004 11:38:20
I had a similar problem on a 440 dozer with a backhoe. It had an obselete Cessna pump that I could not find specs for. I took a chance and replaced it with a 3.12 cu. in. Cessna pump from Surplus Center. It turned out to be a little bigger than the one it replaced but it worked out OK. The backhoe is a little faster now and sometimes it will kill the engine but ngenerally works fine. Hope this helps , Don

The pump is available at Surplus Center. It is Cessna model 25500 3.12 cu. inch with a 7/8" 13 spline shaft. I had to buy a 13 spline coupling and 1" 6 spline coupling which I cut in half and welded together to make a compatible coupling. The pump is $254.50 and the couplings are about $7.00 each plus shipping. Good luck Don
