My HD7 engine sometimes races beyond governor control. Manual says clean out drain tubes below the handholds on the left side of the engine.Trouble is I can't find any drain holes. Can I clean something to keep this from happening?
Maybe take off the handholds and clean out the oil? Don't like it when this thing races like that!! As always thanks again. Almost got this thing going.

Andy There is a drain tube or a plugged hole just above the starter at the back of the moter. But I bet you have a sticking injector. Pull the valve cover off, remove the injector control tube. Move all injector racks with your finger. Should be easy and smoothe with no binding or tight spots. Good luck FRED

Good call from FRED, but also check gov. control shaft that engages fuel control link. Likely that FRED is closer to the problem, as detroit had a not uncommon problem of sticky control racks. Good luck.
