I have a 1930 or 31, Cat FIFTEEN,not sure.Where would the tractor or serial number be located.It's painted yellow and as far as I can see it has never been repainted..Thanks...

Dear John,

The PV series Fifteen (commonly known as the Big Fifteen) was produced from '29 to '32. The brass serial number plate is mounted on the rear of the tractor, right behind the seat. Early PV Fifteens were painted grey. Cat changed the color to yellow in late '31.

The 7C or Small Fifteen was built in '32 and '33. These were yellow.

One way to tell the difference between them is the fuel tank. The PV series had the fuel tank mounted under the hood, with the filler neck sticking through the rear engine panel, facing the operator. The 7C series had the tank mounted externally behind the hood. The filler neck was located in the center of the tank.

Serial number ranges as follows: PV 1 to PV 7559 (1929 - 1932)

7C 1 to 7C 307 (1932 - 1933)
