Has anyone put a different engine, like a pinto engine in their Mustang? I have a 440 with a stuck Ford KSG416 98ci engine in it. I would like to get another engine or retrofit a different one but don't know what to do. I found a Ford VSG411 but don't know if it is any different. I appreciate any help.

I rebuilt that same engine in my 722 last year. It's essentially the same as a 1.6L Pinto engine. I got all my parts from a Ford Industrial engine dealer. I did replace the distributor, using a Pinto part that I got thru Napa. It fit and works fine. It's my understanding that some of the Industrial engine parts are supposed to be built heavier than the Pinto ones.

I just had a local machine shop rebuild an engine from a Bobcat 642. This is a Ford 1600c 98ci engine, model 2274E. They seemed to have little trouble getting engine parts, although an oil pump was a bit tricky. They stated that the engine shares parts from the Fiesta and Pinto engines, but it is really not either engine directly. Total cost was $1350. Good luck.

Where are you located? Do you know the model of your engine. I have some industrial 4 cylinder Ford engines. Roger

This way out of any expertise I have, but the 1.6 litre was in the Fiesta if I remember correctly. If a wrecking yard near you has one of those, looking at it would confirm, or not, that it is the same basic engine.
