I'm a deere man , have been for ever , but localy there is an auction coming up with a cat ten crawler, It's been under cover but has not been run for many years . I hope to go check it out more prior to the sale but was just curious,,,, what age are these machines? Horsepower? What can I expect to pay for one? I have a picture from the auction site but someone would have to tell me how to post it. Thanks

Dear Stew,

The Ten was produced from '28 to '32. About 5000 were built. It weighs about 4500 lbs., has 15 drawbar hp, and 19 on the belt.

Your photo shows it to be pretty complete. Check to see if it still has the original carb (Ensign) and mag (Eisemann), which adds to the value. I have owned a couple of PV Fifteens and they bring $1500 to $2500 in running, unrestored condition around here.

Good luck!

That is the way you want to buy it. It has the look of being kind of original. Take it out and hose it off and it will look a lot better. You might even be able to get it running pretty easy. I have seen "restored" Cat Tens offered for $10K, I dont know how often they sell for that but the Ten is the most popular of the gas Cats. Try to get it then go to www.acmoc.org for any help you need.

Hi Stew. Well that pic shows a crawler that needs a bit of work. The values below are from the "Antique American Tractor and Crawler value guide". They are for one in the condition that the picture shows.

1926 (only) = $4,000
1928 - 1932 = $1,000
1928 - 1932 wide track = $1,500 (pic does not look like a wide unit)
1928 - 1932 high clearance = $3,250 (pic does not look like a high clearance unit)

I'm sorry I do not have my crawler spec book here, so I can't help on the horsepower etc. info at this time.

Good luck!

Jim P
