HELP!

I just bought an industrial model 4140 -0DS SN 30256 with Ford loader and 723 backhoe. Great, right? Well, the hoses on the hoe are leaking / broken and they have the "special Ford only" end. No body can make hoses for me. I went to all of the local tractor places, New Holland, Deere, Kubota. No dice.

Looking at the end, it has a formed ring in the metal tube, and o-ring on the end. Do you have any experience with this type of fitting? Specifically, what modern fitting can I use that won't leak? Are there any adaptors that can be used?

Thanks!
John Bud

A Tisco dealer has adapters to go to pipe thread.

I've got basically the same machine with the same fittings on the backhoe (1964 4000 Industrial with 723 hoe). Over the years, every time one breaks I weld a pipe-thread adapter to the odd-ball metal end of the hose and then install a standard hydraulic hose. Think my hoe only has two of the original Ford ends left.

You need to find a hydraulics shop specifically. I've got a shop nearby who could make me new steel lines with modern fittings. I cannot think of which line your having trouble with though. On my 4500/755 Ford I have two steel lines going to and from the detatchable hoe. My local shop had no problem making hoses which mates to the lines(some type of flare fitting). Underneath the front of the loader is a union more like what you describing. Good luck. Jack

Thanks for the input. I have (out of desparation) changed to an o-ringed SAE fitting. So far (w/o load) there have been no leaks.

Internet exploration has me thinking that only the Ford 713 and 723 backhoes have the odd ball fittings. They are like a flared brake line with some pipe sticking out with a small o-ring on the tip. Wierd. I have been using a hydraulic only shop and he knew them right away as "those ford only hoses". All the tractor dealers just scratched their heads and sent me packing.

The link below tells that the valves and cylinders are double seated and will accept standard SAE. I have not verified that.Link

Thanks for all the help!
