I took my control valve apart to replace leaky seals. When I put it back together I solved the leak but created a problem I didn't have prior to my repair. Now the blade will not stay in the up position while running (or any other position for that matter). The other change is that I do not seem to have down pressure any more. I used to be able to lift the front of the tracks off the ground with the blade, now I can not. Does anyone have any idea what I may have done wrong? Any tip or suggestions on what to look at next? I assume it has to do with the valve since everythis was perfect before I took it apart.

Did you put the small seals in that go up inside the bore of the valve? If not they may be leaking, if so, maybe one got nicked or rolled on you.

thanks Lavoy,
I did change some "O" rings on the top portion of the valve I think they were for pressure releif. I dont have the manual here (in notheren MN with the crawler, I work in the cities) for the correct part names but I had the optional type parts.

is it possible I put the wrong valve spool in the wrong valve body bore? I do not think I tore anything when I assembled but will take apart when I get up ther next.
I did not take the valve body apart, are ther seals in there that I should have replaced that may be my problem?

On a 40, I would say that you have the spool turned 180º which puts it in the float position, but on a 420 with 2 spools, float is activated by the do-hicky on the control lever. It does act like it was stuck in float, though.
