I've been checking out dozers on e-bay and there are a couple nice D3 cats and a nice komatsu D31. Which brand is better in the long run? THey are about the same size and power. Which one is better quality and is easier/cheaper to maintain (parts and availability). THey will be used on a farm for clearing and misc. jobs. Thanks.

If'n it was me, I'd have the Komatsu. I'm just finishing up the sale of my D3b, and it is (was) the biggest POS I've ever owned. I'll be looking for a TD7 to replace it.

They are both comparable machines. They are both dependable. If it was up to me it would depend as to which brand dealer is closer to you. That is the important part, the availablity to get parts. Check out you local dealer.
