Ken,
It is about a 35 H.P. engine, the machine should weigh 9,000 - 10,000 lbs. Good little machine - as long as you remember the word "little". I have one with a loader and the diesel engine. As far as pros and cons, pro I would say is that they are relatively easy machines to work on compared to other makes. I don't think there is any part on the tractor that can't be lifted with a one ton engine hoist. It has dry clutches, which has been an ongoing topic of discussion on this forum, but I have no problem at all with them. Con - I know from experience that some parts are hard to get. Any gears or shift forks for the tranny can only be had used; the H3 and HD3 are the only machine that used those particular parts. Other AC tractors are very similar, but they simply won't work. As far as engine parts, clutches, final drive parts, etc., they are not hard to locate - just expensive when you do. But, when you consider it's around 40 years old, it's kinda surprising how many parts you can find for it. As far as power, I think you will be pleased with the gas engine. I understand that the gas engine was considered (by some) to be as powerful, maybe more so, than the diesel. And if it has the shuttle shift, that is an oil clutch - they never give up. All in all, I think the H3 is one of the best little crawlers ever built. Good luck!
