We don't have a manual for a JD 850 and need to service it. We looked all over for the location to add transmission and hydraulic fluid but can't find it. Where could they have hide it ??

hyd oil on the left tank, hydrostatic trans oil on the right tank, there should be sight glasses for each tank, in the center of the machine there should be a dipstick for checking the splitter gear box. Final drives are checked with the plug placed horizontal and filled at the same place. 10 wt hyd oil for both the hydrostatic and hydraulic system. 80-90 in the final drives and engine oil in the splitter housing.
( splitter box housing hay be accessible through engine side panels, possibly through the floor panel,) i can't remember. Deere used to reccomend special hydrostatic trans oil for that machine but have since changed their reccomendations to a 10 wt hyd oil if my memory serves me correctly. If you live in a cold climate then you may want to use the special oil. ( cold meaning the high plains or canada/alaska)
