i have found a jd 820 track loader for sale. i don"t know anything about jd equip.how many HP?good or bad machine? u/c seems good.dsl. motor runs good.it has a ripper on the back. the man said he put new steering cluthes in it a few years ago,but it has sat a long time and the left one won"t disengage all the time.is this a serious problem? asking price is 6000.oo.good deal or way too much? thanks barry

This is just a guess, but it sounds like you're looking at a 440 crawler. Is it a 2 cylinder Detroit diesel? $6000 seems high for a machine you have to do steering clutch work on. I'd say $3500-4500 would be more in range if it is a 440. Check final drive housings and steering clutch housings for cracks, as these little Detroits made more horse power than the crawler could take. I've worked for Deere dealerships for almost 30 years and that one somehow got past me..420 maybe or later model 850 hydrostatic dozer. maybe someone madeup their own number.could be.....
