I am going to look at a the 955 Saturday and was needing some advice on what to look for. The machine has a 4in1 bucket on it and from the outside looks good. It has been used in demolition for most of its life. The sprockets look a little pointed but the grousers are still in good shape they have 3 bars. Any advice on this machine and what to look for will be appreciated. He wants 10000 for it.

I used a K in demo work for a while...excellent for that type of work, but will usually get hammered due to nature of the work.Demolition machines often get used by many operators also...some good, some rough. Was it well maintained?Another problem is the amount of rubble that gets into engine bay, trans area, finals seals area& the frequent contamination of fuels/oils from rubble dust. These are things to consider on a demo unit.Parts aint cheap, esp. track gear.Good luck.

Jay, figure the cost of a complete Undercarrage into the price. If the sprockets are sharp the chain pitch is long and the idlers are likely near the end of the track frames. A UC salesman can measure up the tracks, rollers and idlers then quote you a rebuild. It's not economical to just patch up undercarrage, the worn parts shorten the life of the new you put on. Make sure the final drives are full of oil , not leaking and the sprockets have no side play. If they do offer to change the final drive oil at your expense and look for broken teeth or other big chunks of metal coming out in the oil. The trans has a magnetic screen with a 5" square cover held on with 4 studs and nuts. Pull it and see if much metal is floating around in the trans oil. Work it if you can and make sure it doesn't over heat engine or trans and will steer good at low throttle on hard ground. Check for play in the loader arms and bucket pins and bushings. Email if you want to talk more. Later Bob
