350 brakes

Had brake band relined at brake shop and is a solid lining a friend had his done same shop his is 3 inches then a space then 3more inches then gap.When i go to steer and pull on handle it just snaps dozer around very quick you have to be real carefull but when backing up it works perfect anybody got any ideas

Might try grinding or filing a bevel on leading edge of brake lining, this should reduce "aggressive" brake application. A certain auto manufacturer had a bad problem with drum brake grabbing, fix was to grind bevel on leading edge of brake lining. Hope this helps.
