When under heavy load I have noticed my clutch is beginning to slip on a D7-17A. Make the load less and things start moving normally again. I can tell there is a difference for sure. Is this an adjustment thing or is this replacement????? If it is an adjustment how is this done??? Thanks. andy

Andy there is a cover to take off the clutch housing. There is a lock that must be released then the pressure plate is turned on threads to tighten the adjustment then locked up again. You should have a 30 Lb. lever pull to engage the clutch when you are finished.

Thanks. I ran the dozer a while tonight. I took the little door off of the big platform over the clutch. Underneath there is a plate with machine bolts holding it to the clutch casting I assume. I believe the clutch brake is hinged on top of this cover. So, I assume I should unbolt this plate to acess the clutch. Is the "lock" on the pressure plate self-explanatory????? Once the lock is loose I should rotate the pressure plate on a treaded shaft???? Do this until the hand clutch pulls in fairly hard (about 30 lbs). I assume a D7-17A is a wet clutch. How much oil should be in there??? What kind of oil? Thanks. andy

Andy if it's a wet clutch it will have a dipstick. You will have to rotate the clutch and look for something that locks the pieces together. Then the spider( piece with the over center linkage)can be turned in relation to the rest of the clutch. I think the lock is a small bar of steel but am not sure. Email me and I might be able to send you a pic this weekend.

I'm sure you can get it adjusted Andy, just didn't want to leave anything to chance.
