Hey Bob, I have been noticing something on my hydraulics for the bucket. When lifting something heavy or pushing on a big treen the bucket wants to fold back down. Is there some kind of check valve that may be doing this..I just started noticing it. Thanks

One of your tilt cylinders could be leaking internally.I would test the cylinders before opening the tank.

Big C, there are line relief valves on the tilt circuit that protect the circuit from dammage by external forces when the circuit is in hold. They might need adjustment. They are inside of the tank and shim adjusted. I believe the one for tiltback is dualsencing and reacts to lift circuit pressure too. There was a small oring that failed in there and caused it to relieve early I seem to recall. Drain your oil into a clean container unless it needs changing. This would be a good time to wash the inside of the tank with a varsol sprayer too. Take things apart carefully and get them back together the right way. If you find lots of hard flat orings that is likely all that's wrong. It's a big job and remember to have the bucket Resting On The Ground before you start. When you take things apart it will get there in a hurry if it isn't and someone could get hurt. The trans screen is on the lower side of the trans, round with a square piece coming off of it, KeyHole shaped.
Later Bob

As always Bob you have been a great help. The Cat manuals just aren't very informative. I also have a IH TD9...you could tear the whole thing apart with some craftsman wrenches and sockets in a day. Cat is a whole different story. Oh by the way just got a HD-16 Allis Chalmers dozer...blown motor...I will be yanking that out soon to rebuild...AC stuff is also easy to work on. Of course now that I think about it....its easier to work on the dozers period than the loaders. Anyway thanks again!
