Thanks for the input from all of you. We tried pull starting it yesterday and it worked! It's on the trailer, ready to move with us from MN to NM!!

Any advice on towing? PLEASE state the obvious!!

F250 superduty diesel
16 ft. 12,000 gw trailer w/breakaway
electric brakes
10,000 lb.hitch

It'll like NM a lot!
Thanks again, Jean

I encountered this very same situation about 10 years ago. I was hired to move an old Cletrac crawler that didn't run and the guy was moving. He wanted me to haul my loader there and push the old crawler on the trailer. The tractor was about the size of the D2. I left my loader home and used a come along. I backed the trailer as close to the front of the tractor and connected the come along to the front of the trailer and the front of the crawler. Cranked it up on the trailer. Got it to the new home and we pulled it off with his pick up truck. Saved him money and me time.

If your diesel works good why not pull start it. I have heard of people pull starting D4s with a pick up truck.

Jean: At the risk of stating the obvious, what about a rollback with a winch? A D2 isn't a D9--they're not all that big of a crawler. You should be able to load it without too much hassle, even if it doesn't run. A friend had to load his JD-450 under similar circumstances, and it wasn't a big deal.
