I have a JD 450 crawler/loader with a counterweight on the back.

I'm getting ready to build a house on the farm, and a backhoe would come in handy for the drain field etc.

Wonder what it would cost to put a backhoe on it?

Well first of all the counterweight has to come off if it's bolted to the back of steering clutch housings.A power beyond fitting for the loader control valve , hoses to the backhoe and quick couplers. Probably $ 300- $400 in above parts. Next is to find a suitable backhoe and mounting brackets to fit your machine. They're out there , you just hafta look around.Also make sure that the backhoe has an open center valve by blowing air thru the oil in and oil out hoses. I ran into one that was closed center and the pump didn't care for it much..Hoes usually go for around $ 2500.00 used..

I have a quik tach JD 93 hoe with 36" cemetery bucket & all manuals. It fits my JD 350 dozer will fit 450 as well, takes about 2 mins to attach. The hoe digs 13.9 reaches 15.9 ~3K lbs. I normally run a rubber tired TLB to dig. So might be available.
