JD Toolholder question

Hi, I posted this on the John Deere site and did not receive any responses. Probably the wrong site for such a question, so will try this forum. Here is the original question:

"Hello - Found an MC crawler with an MC1000 tool holder and blade. About a week before I was supposed to buy it, the seller changed his mind about selling it. Since then, I have found several MC's for sale, but all of them have some other type of tool holder. These other styles have only one hydraulic cylinder which is located on the right hand side of the machine with which to raise and lower the blade. Although I am buying a crawler mostly for the sake of having an antique John Deere crawler, I would like to retain some degree of useability as well. It seems to me that the MC1000 toolholder would do a much better job, than the single cylinder style, of applying uniform downpressure to each side of the blade, since there is a cylinder on each side. Also, it seems that the MC1000 might do a better job of levelling, for the same reason. Any thoughts? Thank you.

The MC1000 is the only one of the two that is actually a tool carrier. The other one you mention is a dozer blade. If it angles, it is a #61, if it does not, it is an MC60. Either way there is a large shaft that goes across the belly of the crawler and puts pressure on both sides of the blade at once. In terms of functionality, there is no real advantage to the MC1000 tool carrier if all you wish to do is puch dirt. In some respects you would be better off with the MC60 due to easier maintenance, and usually less broken parts.
