I want to install air brake control for a tag trialer on my dump truck. I contacted local dealers the price range quoted is from $400 to $1400. Have a parts list from one. Question what is a TP-3 Valve? Can the brake control system for air for trailer be installed by owner operator or would you suggest I take the truck to a dealer?

TP3 valve is a tractor protection valve...
If your truck now has no air to the rear at all, I would think the $400 quote is pretty reasonable as just the valves and air lines would be about that much not even counting labor... the $1400 sounds like too much, but brakes are nothing to fool around with if you don't know what you're doing... I say give the pro the four hundred and get it done.

I think you should get a truck shop to do it Robert if you are useing it on the road. Then if anything goes wrong later you are covered. Everyone is looking to pass the blame onto someone else when accidents happen. Don't let it be you.
