I have been wonting a small dozer to keep here on my farm, I will only need it to do very light work at times, pushing dirt around, keeping up fence rows, small stuff like that. I was wondering how the little Komatsu d20 type dozers are holding up? I am very careful with all my equipment keep it up at all times oil changes all that, I just dont wont a dozer thats will be giveing me alot of problems...when i get ready to use it I wont it to be very dependable. What about parts for it also? Are they easy to get, are they high?

Thanks Trey

First look down the forum at my request for Mitsubishi BD2F(same size as Komatsu) sprockets. I am having a hard time finding them. From experience I have owned three crawlers an Oliver OC4, Komatsu D20 and the Mitsubishi. I restored the Oliver and it looked so good that I didn't use it and sold it to someone who wanted it real bad. As for the Komatsu it had pedal steer and with a gear transmisson I didn't like the handling. I bought the Mutsubishi at what I thought was a bargain but now will have to put a few thousand on the undercarriage. The Komatsu is about the size of a JD350. If I had it to go over again I would buy a JD350. Parts are readily available however any work on the undercarriage will be expensive. Just my two cents.

For light dozing ,I think the D20/21 or BD2 are great...they do a wonderful finishing job & hire out rate is very good. However, parts backup is a problem, especially with powershift trans parts.Undercarriage is same as any machine.....expensive!I"m currently having more problems getting good backup for my JD350,than I ever had with Mitsubishi. If you can find an importer ,they may help with parts, but Komatsu dealers may get what you need.My local Mitsubishi Grader agent gets anything I need for my BD2 dozer.
I think Cat Worldwide are currently selling Mits dozers,so they may supply backup too.

Would you mind sharing where you get Mitsubishi parts?

Here in Australia,BT Equipment sell Mits Graders & engines....they have several outlets. As I previously mentioned ,Rhine Equipment Co in Tacoma have helped me in the past also.A friend of mine does trips to Asia & sometimes gets parts too.I've heard stories of guys in rural areas getting bits from sympathetic Cat guys too. Also found local Mits forklift guy OK.They are a well built machine, but if any gears, etc go bad,you can always get a gear maker to make one.Persistence is the key..... ..... ..... ..!I'm finding that sometimes you can spend a lotta time stuffing around after parts for more popular brands,so the "bad" reputation of the small import gear isn't such a factor now.
