I came acrass a td6 for sale that starts and runs but the owner claims it lacks power and says the injector pump is bad. I am going to look at it next week. are pump parts available? I believe I could rebuild it if I can find the parts, I am a mechanic and have basic knowledge on diesels. What should I check for when I go look at it?

Hi, I acquired a TD 6 today. No blade. $2k owned by an orchardist. He used to pull a sprayer about 20 hrs a year with it. The origional muffler and lites were stored in his shed since he bought it in 1960. The thing runs great. I'll send you a picture if you want. I'm Excited.

Hey Brad in Wa , if you find that you need a part or two let me know. My dad and myself took 3 td-6"s and made one good one. Well I"m almost done making one good one so there"s a chance that I may have a part that you need.

If it under powered look at the governer arm and check to see if the springs are in place. There should be two springs at the end of the governer arm. My TD-9 lacked power too until I found that one of these springs was missing. If these are missing it will not alow the engine to come up under power when the engine comes under a load.

I hope you two had a great time. Where are you? And what's your email address. I'd like to get a blade for it.But I'd also like to have some parts or at least a source? Thanks for your reply.

I got a look at the TD 6 today. The man said he paid $2800 for it 4 years ago when he built a house. It would start and run on gas but run rough and smoke on diesel. He parked it and its been sitting for 3 years. Said he would take $1200. Ser. # 12592 puts it at 1940. It does have an 8foot blade. I was able to turn engine over (not froze) but tanks full of crud. Rad was full, no water in crank case. pulled the starter and the flywheel was pretty chewed up. Whats it worth?

Ed,
I would spend a little time fooling with it to see if I could get it to run. Pull it a little to make sure the tracks are not rusted together, you may be able to pull-start it. If it will run, $1200.00 probably wouldn't be too bad. I have a tendency to over-spend on real junk, but let good stuff go too cheap. I gave $1000.00 for my HD3 Allis, and had to rebuild one drive axle and put the track back on before I could take it off the "mountain" it was on. Since then, I have put about $4500.00 in it, and it's almost done. You just have to think about what it will be worth when you're done, and how much fun you will have running it. Good luck!
